1. Most people believe they need more cushion in order tomake their feet better.
* While it makes sense that you would need cushion, cushion is a temporary relief; a good arch support is going to relieve pressure off of the heel, and it also puts your whole body back into alignment.
* Pedorthics (ped-or'-thiks) -the design, manufacture, modification and fit of footwear, orthotics and devices to alleviate foot problems caused by disease, overuse, or injury.
* A Certified Pedorthist has fulfilled and maintains specific educational requirements to be certified by the Board for Certification in Pedorthics (BCP).
* The board-certified pedorthist works together with the doctor and patient to achieve the best results.
* Birkenstock footwear is crafted with premium-quality, handpicked cork. The great thing about cork is that it's renewable. Once harvested from the tree, it grows back.
* If the shoe fits, repair it. Recycle your shoes by replacing the soles, reconditioning them and much more.
* When you feel pain in the bottom of your heel, the platar fascia is most likely inflamed. Overuse or excess body weight can cause tissue to tear or pull away from the bone.
* Metatarsalgia is a general term used to denote a painful foot condition in the metatarsal region of the foot (ball-of-the-foot). Ball of foot pain is often caused by improper fitting footwear, most frequently by women's dress shoes.
* Heel spurs develop as an abnormal growth in the heel bone due to calcium deposits that form when the platar fascia pulls away from the heel. This stretching of the platar fascia is usually the result of over-pronation (flat feet), but people with unusually high arches (pes cavus) can also develop heel spurs. Women have a significantly higher incidence of heel spurs due to the types of footwear often worn on a regular basis.
