Reuter's offers a wide range of over-the-counter (OTC) inserts to treat numerous common foot problems.  However, there are times when an OTC insert will not be effective even with modifications.  Foot type, weight, age, diagnosis or other variables may require a very specific kind of support.  These conditions are treated with a custom orthotic.

If your doctor prescribes custom orthotics, Reuter's can make them in-house in 4-5 working days.  All modification and services are done at the same convenient location.

Custom orthotics can effectively treat:

  • Arthritis
  • Hallyx Limitus/Ridgidus
  • Heel Pain/Heel Spurs
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Neuromas
  • Sesamoiditis
  • Painful IPK's (calluses)
  • Peroneal Tendonitis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Posterior Tibial Dysfunction

1.
Fabricating a custom orthotic begins with a patient assessment which would be the doctor's prescription.  This includes biomechanical el_____, gait analysis, chief complaint (cause, location, and type of pain: burning, stabbing, shooting, ect.)

2.
Daily activities and any deformities are noted.  This is how the materials the orthotics will be made of are selected.

3.
After this information is gathered, a mold of the foot is taken, and a plaster cast is made.

4.
The cast is sanded smooth and corrections (based on the assesment) are done.
